Never Fear! Sedation Dentistry in Fort Worth Is Here

Millions of Americans cope with dental anxiety. There mere thought of a cleaning and checkup makes them uneasy, and if there’s a more involved procedure, like a root canal – well, forget it. The Parkway Dentist doesn’t want anyone putting their dental health at risk, and provides sedation dentistry for those who need it.

There’s a good reason why we recommend seeing the dentist for a cleaning and checkup twice a year. No matter how good you are with a toothbrush and dental floss, there are those hard-to-reach places where plaque builds up. It can lead to cavities, so you need a hygienist to remove it.

In spite of your best efforts, cavities may still form, and you’ll need to get them filled. A more involved procedure may be in order. Sedation dentistry is a safe and simple way of getting your dental work done without sending your anxiety level through the roof. We provide three types of sedation:

  • Nitrous oxide. Commonly called laughing gas, it may not make you laugh, but it will make you very relaxed. Nitrous oxide is safe and effective and has been used in dentistry with great success for more than one hundred years.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation. This involves taking a sedative about an hour before your appointment. You’ll remain awake but be very sleepy, and not very aware of what’s going on around you. You’ll need to have a ride home afterward.
  • IV Sedation. This is administered intravenously. You’ll remain awake, but as with oral conscious sedation, not very aware of your surroundings. Most patients don’t remember much when it’s over. You’ll need someone to give you a ride home.
